ATG's Fall 2007 Show

This month on ATG we’ll pay our respects to the drummer and freedom fighter Max Roach, test drive a pair of drumsticks war crafted from dinosaur tibula, sample esoteric percussion devices such as the qua-drang-u-lar-is reversum, speak in secret alphabets, then sleep all night in the soul kitchen.

This month’s webcast is the 26th installment of our periodic program, Odds and Sods, first webcast on September 10, 2007, with a running time of approximately three hours. Of particular importance on today’s webcast is a three-song tribute to Max Roach as well as the first appearance on ATG by composer Harry Partch and his unique ensemble of third-eye percussionists and microtonal keyboards. The cast also includes performances by Buddy Rich, Jack DeJohnette, Pernell Saturnino, Antonio Sanchez, Chad Wackerman, Abe Loriel Jr., and Gary Husband.

ATG's Springtime Webcast

This month on ATG we’ll welcome drummer Dennis Chambers back to the pocket, call upon the spirit of the late-great Jaco Pastorius, go to the school on the math rockers, Don Caballero, testify to Robben Ford’s resurrection of a forgotten Beatles classic, and add deadwings to deerhoofs just to see what happens.

This springtime show is the 25th installment of our periodic program, Odds and Sods, first webcast on April 2nd, 2007. The content in the drumming abandanza is three hours long, and includes appearances by drummers Kim Plainfield, Dallas Taylor, Gavin Harrison, Dave Weckl, Jeff Ballard, Evelyn Glennie, and 21 others who’ve got boogie on the brain. Of particular importance on this edition of ATG are brief tributes to saxophonist Michael Brecker and record man, Ahmet Ertegun.

And finally, allow me to remind you that ATG remains a non-profit, community services station. The show is produced and paid for entirely by yours truly without any assistance or support of any kind from the music industry.

ATG's Webcast for December and January

This month on Ain't That a Groove, we'll appease the voodoo gods with a copious offering of polyrhythmic percussion, pay our respects to the Godfather of Soul, get on the goodfoot with the ghost of Frank Zappa, renew our acquaintance with the modern marimba, and make a brief stop at the North Pole.

This edition of ATG is the 24th installment of our periodic program, Odds and Sods, and was first webcast on January 9, 2007. The show is 2.5 hours long, and includes appearances by Ed Palermo's Big Band, TV on the Radio, Gateway, The Concordia Orchestra, Gary Novak,Paul Motian, and illustrious others. Because ATG 24 was designed for webcast during the Winter Solstice, it also includes several drum tracks suitable for the holidays.
